Description

The Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes Management and Education (Open and Distance Learning) at International Medical University (IMU) is a specialised postgraduate programme designed for healthcare professionals seeking advanced knowledge and skills in the prevention, management, and education of diabetes. Delivered through a flexible Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode, this programme enables working clinicians, nurses, educators, and allied health professionals to deepen their understanding of diabetes pathophysiology, clinical care pathways, patient education strategies, and community health initiatives without interrupting their professional commitments. The curriculum emphasises evidence-based practice, patient-centred care, and interdisciplinary collaboration, equipping graduates with competencies in diabetes self-management support, clinical decision-making, risk assessment, and therapeutic approaches across diverse healthcare settings. Through a blend of online coursework, case studies, and practical applications, students enhance their professional capacity to lead diabetes education programmes, optimise clinical outcomes, and contribute to public health efforts addressing the global burden of diabetes. Graduates are well-prepared for advanced roles in clinical practice, health education, policy development, and community health leadership.
