The Foundation in Information Technology at Xiamen University Malaysia is a one‑year pre‑university programme designed to equip students with a solid grounding in computing and digital skills, preparing them for undergraduate studies in IT, computer science or related fields. The curriculum covers foundational topics such as computing fundamentals, programming, information systems, database management, mathematics, discrete mathematics, e‑commerce, and ethics and social responsibility in technology. In addition, the programme emphasises academic English, digital literacy, critical thinking, academic reading/writing, presentation skills and general communication — ensuring that students not only understand technical content but also gain strong soft skills. With multiple intakes (April, August, December) and instruction in English, the Foundation in IT at XMUM offers a broad, flexible gateway for secondary‑school leavers from diverse academic streams who wish to build a future in the rapidly evolving world of technology.
