Description

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary degree that integrates biology, computer science, and data analytics to equip students with the skills needed to analyse and interpret complex biological data. This programme provides strong foundations in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, programming, database systems, algorithms, and statistical analysis, preparing students to use computational tools to solve real-world problems in biotechnology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and research. Through laboratory work, hands-on computational projects, and research-based modules, students gain practical experience in areas such as genome analysis, protein modeling, molecular simulations, and biomedical data mining. Graduates are well-prepared for careers as bioinformaticians, data analysts, research officers, biotechnologists, or software specialists in medical and life science industries, or for further postgraduate studies in related fields.

Entry Requirement

Minimum grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any two STPM subjects or its equivalent, with a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or a minimum grade C in STPM Mathematics or its equivalent.

Minimum of Grade D in any two A-Level subjects, with a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or a minimum Grade D in A-Level Mathematics or its equivalent.

Minimum 5 credits (5Bs) including Mathematics and English

Successful completion of Foundation or Matriculation studies from a recognised institution, with a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
