Description

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Biosciences is a research-focused postgraduate programme designed for students who wish to advance their scientific knowledge and contribute original insights to the diverse fields within biological sciences. Through an independent research project supervised by experienced academic staff, candidates explore specialised areas such as molecular biology, biotechnology, microbiology, genetics, ecology, physiology or environmental science. The programme emphasises advanced research methodology, critical analysis, laboratory competence and scientific communication, supported by well-equipped laboratories and modern research facilities. Students develop strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills while engaging in meaningful investigations that address current biological and environmental challenges. The MPhil also serves as a solid pathway to PhD studies or professional careers in research institutions, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, environmental organisations, academic settings and other bioscience-related sectors.
