This research-driven programme aims to develop students' research skills at an advanced level in some crucial areas of computing. Candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy (Computing) at Sunway University will be leaders and innovators in the fields of computing, information and communications technology.; The core domains of this programme are: Computer Networking, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Haptics and Software Engineering.

Entry Requirement

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computing or related fields with first-class honours (CGPA ≥ 3.67 or equivalent), subject to internal assessment and any other requirements set by the Academic Senate
  • or a Master’s degree in Computing or related fields as accepted by the Academic Senate
  • or a Master’s degree in non-Computing fields with ≥ five years’ relevant work experience subject to prerequisite courses
  • or a Master’s degree in non-Computing fields with < five years’ relevant work experience subject to prerequisite courses and internal assessment. Rigorous internal assessment and work experience may exempt candidates from prerequisite courses.

  • Other qualifications equivalent to Master’s degree in Computing or related fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses
  • Any other qualifications will be considered on a case-to-case basis and subject to the approval and acceptance by University Senate.
