The Foundation in Music programme prepares students for progression into bachelor’s degree studies in music by developing strong musical knowledge, practical abilities and critical thinking skills. Students explore various aspects of music through courses such as Appreciation of Music, Music Listening, Introduction to Malaysian Music and Introduction to the Music Industry, enabling them to analyse music-related issues, reflect critically and connect ideas to real-world applications. The programme also strengthens students’ practical abilities through performance and ensemble learning in choir or orchestra, musicianship courses and major and minor instrument studies. In addition, students develop teamwork, responsibility, communication, leadership and digital media skills while gaining an understanding of values, ethics, professionalism and entrepreneurship. The programme equips students with the knowledge, skills and professional awareness needed for further studies and successful careers in regional and international music industries
