Description

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Biotechnology programme is designed to equip students with science-driven knowledge and practical skills for various applications in the field of biotechnology. The programme introduces students to fundamental biotechnology concepts in the first year before expanding their knowledge into specialised areas such as medical biotechnology, virology, food technology, bioinformatics, metabolomics, environmental biotechnology, cell and tissue culture, genetic engineering, aquaculture, crop biotechnology, and forensic science. Through a final year research project with dissertation and a 12-week internship, students develop analytical skills, time management abilities, independent learning capabilities, and industry experience. The programme aims to produce graduates who are technically competent in biotechnology applications, effective communicators, capable leaders and team members, and innovative problem solvers who consider ethical and social responsibilities. Graduates are also equipped with entrepreneurship, digital, and numeracy skills while developing the ability to pursue lifelong learning and contribute effectively to the biotechnology industry
