The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a comprehensive five-year programme that prepares students for the dentistry field, shaping competent and compassionate dental practitioners with high standards of care and skill. Students gain early patient contact and clinical training focused on oral disease recognition and prevention, with a problem-based curriculum that emphasizes applying scientific knowledge in real clinical settings. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including an oral health centre for hands-on experience, the programme uses real industry challenges and patient cases for coursework. It has a diverse learning environment with students from over 16 countries, is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, and has international recognition from medical councils and regulatory bodies, preparing graduates to excel in general dental practice and various specialities.

  • Minimum 30 points overall, with minimum score of 5 in 3 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics (≥ 2 Higher Level, 1 Standard Level)

  • Degree in Medical Sciences (MBBS or equivalent): CGPA ≥ 3.0, must pass bridging course at year 2 level before entering year 3. Candidates may receive exemptions for year 1 and/or relevant courses (e.g., Basic Medical Science, General Surgery, General Medicine)
  • Degree in Sciences/Life Sciences: CGPA ≥ 3.0
  • Degree in Arts or Humanities CGPA ≥ 3.0

  • Applicants may be required to pass an aptitude test, interview, or university entrance examination
  • Portfolio assessment may also be conducted where relevant
  • Graduates seeking government employment: Credit in Bahasa Malaysia at SPM level
  • For unlisted examinations, equivalence must be obtained from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)
  • Clarifications must be sought from the Council if provisions are not explicitly stated
  • Graduates from a dental programme seeking public sector employment must meet criteria set by Public Services Commission of Malaysia (SPA)
