The Bachelor of Counselling (Honours) is a comprehensive undergraduate programme designed to equip students with a strong foundation in counselling theory and professional practice, preparing graduates for meaningful careers in the mental health and community services fields. The programme covers essential areas such as counselling theories, therapeutic techniques, human development, mental health, ethics, and professional practice, combining academic learning with supervised practical training to develop effective communication, empathy, and intervention skills. Through coursework, skills training, and field practice, students gain the competencies required to support individuals, families, and groups facing various life challenges, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for professional counselling practice or further specialised studies in related disciplines.

Entry Requirement

  • A pass in STPM or its equivalent, with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects

  • A pass in A-Levels or its equivalent, with a minimum of Grade D (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects

  • A pass in UEC with minimum Grade B in five (5) subjects

  • Matriculation or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00

  • Minimum of CGPA 2.00 in UoC's Foundation in Arts or Foundation in Science.

  • A Diploma or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00
  • Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) Diploma Level: pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 in a relevant field subject with the approval of the University
  • or pass with at least CGPA 2.00 and have at least two (2) years of work experience in the relevant field
  • and credit in English at SPM level or its equivalent
  • and candidate must also attend bridging courses.

  • Entry requirements for admission into the Bachelor's programme through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) as approved by the Ministry of Education (MOHE): a Malaysian citizen
