Description

The MEng Civil Engineering at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia is a comprehensive four-year full-time undergraduate programme that prepares students to become professional civil engineers equipped with the technical knowledge, analytical skills and design capabilities required for the planning, design, construction and management of essential infrastructure in the built environment. The curriculum covers the core civil engineering disciplines including structures, geotechnics, water engineering and transportation engineering, with an initial focus on materials, mechanics and analytical methods, and a growing emphasis on advanced design, project management and engineering problem-solving as students progress through the degree. Students benefit from a mix of lectures, practical workshops and project-based learning that develop both academic understanding and applied competencies, while personal and professional development is reinforced throughout the programme to support transition into industry roles in consulting, contracting, government agencies or further postgraduate study. The degree is accredited by relevant academic and professional bodies, ensuring recognition locally and internationally, and offers pathways for students to gain industrial experience, inter-campus opportunities and exposure to real-world engineering challenges that enhance readiness for careers in civil, structural, geotechnical, transportation and water engineering fields.
